Dr. Roopali Chaudhary, Ph.D

Dr. Roopali Chaudhary completed her Hons. B.Sc specializing in Molecular Biology and Molecular Genetics from the University of Toronto, and an M.Sc in Genetics from the University of Waterloo, focusing on Drosophila genetics and embryogenesis. She completed her Ph.D in Cellular Biology from the McMaster University,Ontario characterizing a new transgenic mouse model for Inflammatory Bowel Disease and precursor for colon cancer.
She then joined the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the McMaster Immunology Research Center studying early immune memory development in food allergies. She has published multiple peer-reviewed papers and presented her work at national and international conferences.
She is the Founder of the not-for-profit organization, Lotus STEMM, a networking and leadership platform for South Asian women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM).
Dr. Chaudhary started Lotus STEMM in 2018 as a platform where young South Asian girls and women would feel supported in pursuing their STEMM careers. She believes that STEMM is for everyone, and with Lotus STEMM, she wants to get more girls and youth excited about critical thinking, curiosity, and learning.
